Rotterdam-based crypto asset manager Blockrise has secured €2 million in seed funding from a mix of venture capital firms and angel investors.

The Dutch startup, which provides secure Bitcoin custody and asset management for high-net-worth individuals and enterprises, says the funds will be used to grow its team, accelerate product development, and prepare for an upcoming Series A.

Eyes on MiCAR licence and European expansion

Blockrise is positioning itself to capitalize on the upcoming European Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). The new funding will support preparations for securing a MiCAR licence from the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), enabling the firm to scale its services across the EU while maintaining a strong focus on security, compliance, and innovation.

“This €2M seed round is a major milestone,” said CEO Jos Lazet. “It enables us to amplify our marketing reach and expand our offerings. With our anticipated MiCAR licence, we’re ready to cement our position as the leading regulated Bitcoin solution in Europe.”

New leadership joins as company scales

To support its expansion, Blockrise has made several strategic hires:

  • Arthur van Lier as Chief Operating Officer (COO)
  • Luuc Mannaerts as Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
  • Valentin Mazareanu as Chief Information & Security Officer (CISO)

Additional leadership hires in legal, compliance, marketing, and product development are expected in the coming months.

Growing demand for regulated crypto solutions

Registered with De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), Blockrise has seen rising demand for regulated crypto services from both corporate and private clients.

“We believe corporate demand for Bitcoin—for treasury management and structured products—will continue to grow,” said Thomas Mensink, Managing Partner at Golden Egg Check Capital. “Blockrise offers a secure, reliable solution, and we’re proud to support their next stage of growth.”

With regulatory clarity and investor momentum behind it, Blockrise is aiming to become a key player in the institutional crypto space across Europe.
